Question 1 – We have new staff and could they sign up for an online training program through AADE to expand their knowledge. I would ask them to complete during the grant period.

A – Yes

Question 2 – We currently have preliminary recognition for our DPP program however we need to expand or grow the number of participants to receive full-recognition. Can funding be used for more trainers or a way to promote our DPP program?

A – No. This particular funding cannot be used for DPP related activities. There will be a DPP related funding opportunity coming soon.

Question 3 – We have a community health fair at the end of March / first of April each year. Could funding be used for an “ask the diabetes expert” booth where participants could ask us questions, we could promote our program both DPP and DSMT, plus offer a diabetes risk assessment for those at risk or undiagnosed. Can funding be used for staff time for this fair? or only travel to the health fair?

A – This funding is to be used to promote DSMES. Yes, this funding can be used to offer a diabetes risk assessment for those at risk or undiagnosed. However, showing how that will increase participation in the current ADA-Recognized DSMES program will be required (See “Suggested Performance Measures Final-Spring 2020 document to reference reporting that may be required for activities under this funding type). Yes, funding can be used for staff time at the health fair and staff travel time to the health fair. However, the funding is to be used to promote DSMES. If other programs are being promoted at the same time, another funding source would need to share the expenses, and you would need to show the split in expenses when invoicing.
